This annual big event for community college fashion students in California, CCC Fashion Symposium, this year, will be held at California Market Center, Los Angeles on April 21, 2012 (yay!), and what you are about to see below is my entry for one of the contests called (check out the colored version of the picture by clicking on the following hyperlink)…→

Retro Rad.”

My boyfriend, Daniel, came up with the name after more than days arguing with me about the real meaning of “retro” and whether the clothes I designed looked rugged enough or not, since at first he was thinking about naming the collection “Ruggedly Retro,” which I really liked at the time.

Well, maybe I was just exaggerating a little bit. It wasn’t like me and him were really arguing about the name and shouting at each other through the phone about it, but he really was what inspired me to “create” this certain kind of fashion collection for men that I’ve never done before.

“True blue” jeans, western-style denim vest, and even that roll-up sleeve button shirt you are seeing on the picture were all inspired by him, and that’s what I wanted to bring to the Fashion Symposium and today’s fashion for men: style in generality. You, know, sometimes us ladies want to see you, gentlemen, dressing up like how real men dress.  So, let’s put your super skinny jeans aside for a while…

And, well, there you go! I hope you like it as much as Daniel does, and let’s hope the judges will do too.
